So, how does this work?

8 STEPS TO GET TO THE HAPPY DANCE!

If you think you'd be interested in working with me, give me a call or shoot me an email. We will have a brief chat to get to know each other and I will answer any questions you may have. If you decide you would like to go ahead, you would then send me a deposit for half the amount of the profile, and I would send you a copy of my questionnaire.

Next, you answer the questionnaire. It is filled with questions designed to help you express your values, your personalities, what is unique about you and the kind of life you could offer a child. I tell my clients to fill them out as if they were talking, not to worry about grammar or sentence structure, leave that for me to worry about! (If you are working with an agency that requires you to do all your writing upfront and have it approved by your social worker, then you can skip this step.)

I would then read through your questionnaire and come up with what I call my 'dream list' of photos that I would like from you. Aside from the obvious photos I would want; like any photo that showed joy or love, or showed you playing or cuddling with kids, I will come up with a list of photos that help to express what is truly unique about you. As you send me all of your pictures I will help to pick the ones that show you in the best, true light.

After getting information from you about what you want your adoption profile to look like; what colors you prefer, whether you prefer modern or traditional, whether there was a certain profile you saw that really spoke to your style. I will then take your style preferences, your writing and photos and come up with a few pages for you to approve. If there is anything you don't like, I will keep adjusting it until you are thrilled with how it looks!

This is the part where you get to kick back and relax while I do all of the work. Some clients don't want to see what I am working on until I have completed the first draft and it is all done. Other clients like to see what I am working on as I go and give feedback along the way. I am happy working either way. After all, it is your profile not mine! I want you to have as much control as you would like. I can also send our copy of our first finished draft to your agency/lawyer/consultant to make sure they are happy with it.

When we feel like the profile is exactly the way we want it, then I can either send you the PDFs so you can have the profile printed wherever you want, or I can arrange to have them printed for you. If your adoption profile is a bound hard-covered book, I will upload to a company and they will deliver the book right to your home. (Of course, you would pay the extra costs for the price of the printing.)

This is where it starts to get fun! You turn in your printed profile to your adoption agency or professional and watch them gush over it and tell you how wonderful it is! Then you sit back and wait (hopefully, not long at all) for them to let you know that you have been picked by a birthmom and that you will be parents any day!

Now for my favorite part! You call or email me to let me know that you are a parent and you send me pictures of you with your gorgeous new baby! This is the part where I scream and jump around... and sometimes my family joins in too! (They used to join me all the time but they are teenagers now, so it is hit or miss.) ;)
